Water Management

Waste and Air Pollution Management

Policy and Goals

A. Policy

  1. Optimize process design and equipment utilization to reduce water consumption and improve recycling efficiency.
  2. Ensure wastewater emissions meet regulatory standards and promote reuse.
  3. Build awareness across teams and suppliers to foster sustainable water consumption practices.
  4. Adopt innovative technologies and boost efficiency and reduce climate-related risks.

B. Goals

  1. Promote conservation and sustainable use to balance production and environmental needs, aiming for zero water waste.
  2. Regularly monitor water usage, mitigate water scarcity risks, and reduce impact via efficient use and recycling technologies.

Water Resource Utilization Status

Bora’s sites primarily rely on municipal water as their water source. The summary of water withdrawal, discharge, and consumption is as follows: Taiwan Sites Unit: ML
2023 2024 2025
Municipal Water Withdrawal 152.60 165.60 162.92
Groundwater Withdrawal 0.00 0.00 0.00

Note: The Baltimore and Maple Grove Sites, acquired in 2024, were brought into the Group’s environmental and social performance reporting in 2025. North American site data on this page therefore covers 2025 only.

Water Conservation Target Promotion Plan

In 2025, the overall water consumption at the Zhunan Site decreased by approximately 5% compared to the previous year, resulting in a total water saving of 4,119 cubic meters. To reach this conservation goal, the plant implemented various water resource management and leak prevention measures, one of which was the fire protection pipeline repair project: due to leakage from the original underground fire-fighting water supply pipe caused by earthquake impacts, the facility invested over NT$1.15 million to convert the 10-inch underground pipeline to an above-ground exposed pipe design, effectively eliminating hidden water waste. Looking ahead, Bora targets a 3% reduction in Group-wide per capita water consumption from 2025 to 2030, using 2025 as the base year, and plans to implement the following measures:
Group-wide Water Conservation Measures Key Measures
Office and Domestic Water Use
  • Adjust the tap water flow rate to avoid waste.
  • Replace old faucets with those that are certified with an energy-saving label or install water-saving aerators.
  • Harvest rainwater for irrigation purposes.
Inspect and Repair Pipeline Equipment
  • Regularly inspect pipeline equipment for municipal water, air conditioning water, fire protection water, and irrigation water at each site. If any leaks are detected, repairs and improvements will be carried out immediately to reduce unnecessary loss or waste.
Optimize Water Production and Usage Facilities
  • We assess water production and usage equipment at each site, such as cooling towers and pure water systems, and cut unnecessary discharge by adjusting operating settings or installing monitoring devices to improve water-use efficiency. We also set site-specific water conservation targets and develop corresponding action plans.
