Hazardous Substance Management
Hazardous Substance Management
Management Approach:
Bora Pharmaceuticals prioritizes source control as its core strategy, managing the classification, storage, and use of chemical substances in accordance with the Standard Operating Procedures for Laboratory Safety, Health, and Chemical Management. The company tracks the flow of chemical substances through detailed written records to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. A toxic chemical assessment mechanism has been established, requiring collaboration between the responsible units and the Environmental Health and Safety Department to prevent environmental pollution and risks to human health, aiming to achieve safe, compliant, and sustainable green management objectives.
Policy and Goals
A. Policy
- Bora Pharmaceuticals is committed to the source management of hazardous substances, enhancing the control of their classification, storage, and use. The company strictly complies with environmental and occupational safety regulations to ensure the lawful operation and management of chemical substances.
- By establishing a “Chemical Cloud Management System” and optimizing hazardous substance information management, Bora achieves digital monitoring, ensuring the transparency and safety of chemical substance flows.
- Integrating chemical substances with facility geographic information supports the improvement of response and disaster relief mechanisms, reducing potential risks to the environment and human health.
B. Goals
- Complete annual regulatory reporting, approval, and training for chemical substances to enhance employees’ hazard identification and response capabilities.
- Strengthen the management of chemical substance usage and storage within the facility, ensuring that operational records are complete and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Promote IoT-based monitoring of chemical substance flows, improving tracking and reconciliation mechanisms, enhancing disaster response information, and optimizing general hazard education and training.
- Conduct regular emergency response drills to familiarize staff with leakage response procedures, minimizing the impact of unexpected incidents on the environment and personnel.
Hazardous Substance Management and Measures
To effectively manage chemical products and minimize the risks of potentially hazardous substances, Bora Pharmaceuticals has established the Hazardous Chemical Exposure Assessment and Tiered Management Report. As part of its hazardous substance management strategy, the company emphasizes source control, proper classification, storage, and usage. It implements strict written documentation to monitor usage and track the flow of chemical substances, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
The management framework focuses on the use, maintenance, and operation of chemicals, toxic substances, and precursor chemicals. Responsibility is shared between designated personnel from user units and the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) team, working collaboratively under the Standard Operating Procedures for Laboratory Safety, Health, and Chemical Management (SOP). This approach aims to prevent major incidents that could lead to environmental pollution and harm to human health.
Achievements in Hazardous Substance Management
Bora Pharmaceuticals has achieved significant milestones in hazardous substance management. In compliance with the Toxic and Concerned Chemical Substances Control Act, the company has applied for and obtained relevant approval documents covering 20 types of Class 1 to Class 3 toxic substances, 17 types of Class 4 toxic substances, and 7 types of concerned chemical substances. Monthly usage reports are submitted as required. Additionally, facilities such as the Zhubei and Zhunan plants have completed annual priority chemical reporting, operational records, and emergency response training in accordance with regulations, ensuring chemical operations comply with legal standards. Inspections by the Environmental Protection Bureau and Science Park Bureau have found no discrepancies.
The company has also enhanced its chemical management processes and disaster response measures through the Chemical Cloud Management System, which strengthens IoT tracking mechanisms and disaster response information. Annual tabletop and specific chemical substance drills are conducted to bolster employees’ response capabilities and mitigate risks, achieving comprehensive and compliant hazardous substance management.
